Entertainment Alternatives in Orlando FL

One of the most well-known forms of entertainment in Orlando, Florida is Walt Disney World Resort, the multi-faceted resort based off of the many works of famous animator, director, producer, screenwriter, voice actor and entrepreneur Walter Elias Disney. The resort consists of four main theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios, and Epcot), two water parks (Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Disney's Blizzard Beach), the Walt Disney's Wide World Of Sports sports complex, twenty resort hotels, six golf courses, and numerous options for shopping, dining and entertainment.


Other well-known attractions in Orlando, Florida include Universal Orlando Resort, a multi-faceted attraction similar to Walt Disney World Resort, and Seaworld, an aquatic-themed resort consisting of 4 rides, numerous smaller children's rides, and many shows and animal-based attractions. Cypress Gardens Adventure Park is an amusement park that opened in 1936, and consists of 40 rides, 5 roller coasters and a water park. If amusement parks are not your choice of entertainment, Orlando also has many animal attractions, including Blue Springs State Park, where manatees form their winter home in the warm water, and GatorLand, a wildlife preserve which is home to thousands of alligators and crocodiles, with many shows throughout the day including alligator wrestling. Orlando, Florida also holds many parks, museums, gardens and other attractions, and is one of the fastest growing retail markets in the USA, supplying plenty of shopping.


In sports, the Citrus Bowl stadium is home to the Capital One Bowl (Formerly the Florida Citrus Bowl) and Champs Sports Bowl (Formerly the Tangerine Bowl) football games. This arena also hosts many regular-season games, including those for Jones High School, and also plans to host the WWE WrestleMania 24 event in 2008. The NBA pro basketball team, the Orlando Magic, are also based in the city, playing out of the Amway Arena. The Disney's Wide World Of Sports complex holds the Ballpark At Disney's Wide World Of Sports (AKA Cracker Jack stadium), which is the spring training home of the Atlanta Braves.
