The Orange County Public Schools district has 97 elementary schools, 26 middle schools, and 15 high schools in Orlando, Florida, as well as 4 technical education schools. Due to a grade change in 1988, in which grade 6 was moved from elementary school to middle school, and grade 9 from middle to high, there are also 3 schools for grades kindergarten to 8. Additionally, some high schools built grade 9 centers rather than trying to expand their own buildings to accomodate the change: 6 such centers exist in Orlando. Most elementary schools also have Pre-K programs, as now required by Florida law.
Orlando also has 7 private high schools and 32 private elementary schools. 18 schools are both elementary and high schools, with grade ranges starting between Pre-K and grade 3, and ending at grade 12.
Orlando, Florida is home to 14 universities, 13 colleges, and two Theological Seminaries (Asbury and Reformed) of varying sizes and subjects. These include the University of Central Florida, the sixth-largest university in the nation, and Brevard Community College. |
